A rare opportunity to own an original, authentic, low-mileage 1968 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 with just 39,951 miles. This is an unrestored survivor that has never undergone a full restoration and retains the honest character and details of a 50+ year-old automobile.
The underside and structural areas are remarkably solid. The trunk pan, extension panels, wheel houses, shock mounts, and inner quarter panels all present extremely well. The floor pans are consistent with the excellent trunk condition and retain what appears to be the original factory sound-deadening/undercoating.
The original brightwork is good overall, although some chrome loss is visible along the top of the front bumper/grille area. The engine compartment retains original finishes along with period touch-ups believed to have been performed in the 1970s.
This is an original-motor car, with the YT production code and serial number stamped on the block documenting its originality. Power is delivered through a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission, backed by a 12-bolt Positraction rear differential.
